On December 15, 2022, a panel discussion on the role of civil society in administrative decentralization in
Sumerian Hotel and Restaurant conference hall.
With the participation of 50 people of both genders, they represent non-governmental organizations, voluntary teams, and directors of departments such as the Women’s Empowerment Department, the Social Welfare Department, the Union of Businessmen, academic professors, and the governor’s advisor for non-governmental organization affairs.
The topics of the discussion session included the concepts of decentralization and the importance of civil society participation with local authorities in the field of promoting democratic principles. At the end of the activity, the participants were divided into small working groups, and challenges, success stories, and recommendations were written in the event that the principle of decentralization is applied in a realistic and tangible way.
The facilitator of the discussion session was Mr. Raed Al-Awsi, an expert in the field of training and a certified trainer in the organization, and the speaker was Dr. Uday Al-Taie, an expert in the field of training and a certified trainer in the organization.
